Bobby Shmurda Officially sentenced to 7 years in Prison
It’s going to be sometime behind bars for Bobby Shmurda. The Rapper has been given seven years in prison in New York on weapons and conspiracy charges.
The 22-year-old was handed the sentence after trying to turn down a court deal to plead guilty.
“I was forced to take this sentence,” Bobby Shmurda told the judge, according to the New York Daily News.
Judge Abraham Clott confirmed the prison term but ruled there was no need for more time to review the case.
Bobby Shmurda argued with his lawyer in court after he tried to reject the deal, called a plea bargain in America, at the last-minute.
Shmurda’s career took off in the months before his arrest thanks to his song Hot Boy, which references street life and guns.
The track climbed to number six on the US singles chart.
