The world will still be congregating in Brazil next month for the Paralympics. One country that will not be there is Russia.

This is because the court of arbitration for Sports has decided that all of Russia’s paralympians, will not be competing at the games after being found guilty of doping. The court confirmed the finding by the I.O.C that the Russian government had sponsored the doping of its sportsmen and women.

Meanwhile The Russian government has reacted to the decision by saying that the move was motivated by a desire among certain leaders of the Paralympics movement to squeeze out, strong competitors.

Nigeria will be part of the paralympics.

The Nigeria Paralympics Committee assured the nation of this. It said the country’s representatives will be there, despite the challenges they are currently facing. Nigeria is expected to feature in power lifting, table tennis and athletics.
