Eryka Badu Returns as host of Soul Train Music Awards, Drake & Beyonce lead Nominations

The nominations for the 2016 Soul Train Music Awards have been released and Erykah Badu will return as host for the ceremony, happening in vegas next month.

The singer hosted the show last year where she notably threw shade at rapper Iggy Azalea (“What you’re doing is definitely not rap,” she quipped).

In addition to announcing Badu’s back-to-back hosting gig, Centric and BET also unveiled the show’s nominees.

2016 hip-hop MVP Drake leads the pack with 12 nominations, including a pair of nods for the Video of the Year Award for his viral smash “Hotline Bling” and his guest spot on Rihanna’s earworm “Work.”

Beyonce follows with eight nominations for her work on the visual album Lemonade, earning mentions for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Album/Mixtape of the Year, Song of the Year for “Formation” and Best Dance Performance, as well as the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award.

The filming for the Soul Train Music Awards will take place on Nov. 6 before it airs on Centric and BET at 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 27.
