J. Cole Visits Inmates At San Quentin State Prison

J. Cole took time off from his 4 Your Eyez Only tour to visit inmates at San Quentin State Prison in the Bay Area on Tuesday. The rapper has been a vocal opponent of mass incarceration, and part of his current tour involves him being dressed in a prison jumpsuit while being brought out on stage by police officers.

Cole went to San Quentin with Dreamville Records president Ibrahim Hamad and Felton Brown, Dreamville’s head of art direction. The men spent the day with inmates who have received life sentences.

“That experience was a life changing experience and wish I had the ability to put that in a caption but that wouldn’t be doing it justice,” Hamad wrote on Instagram.

“Spent a day with some brothers whose stories go unheard behind the wall. Learned a lot, so much work to be done,” Brown wrote on his own Instagram post. “This system will try to not give you a voice but we’re listening.”
