Kinging! Kendrick Lamar Continues To Hold No. 1 Spot On Billboard Artist 100 Chart
Kendrick Lamar spends his third consecutive week as the top musical act in the U.S, holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated May 20).
The Artist 100 (which launched in July 2014) measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Lamar earns his fifth total week atop the Artist 100, thanks in large part to his latest LP DAMN., which posts its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 173,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 4, according to Nielsen Music. On last week’s Artist 100, album sales earned Lamar his largest share of Artist 100 points (45 percent), followed by streaming (35 percent). This week, they reverse, as streaming marks his greatest points contributor (40 percent), followed by album sales (36 percent). The set’s “Humble.” ranks at No. 2 (after four weeks at No. 1) on the Streaming Songs chart with 54.2 million U.S. streams in the tracking week.
