Lagos on Valentine’s Day
February 14th every year is celebrated by many especially the young as ST Valentine’s day.
On this day, people exchange different gifts such as cards, flowers and good will messages.
Lagosians spoke to Correspondent Emmanuel Ezekiel.
For those who celebrate, it is to mark the anniversary of St Valentine’s death. Others claim the Christian church may have decided to place St. Valentine’s feast day in the middle of February to “Christianize” the pagan celebration of Lupercalia.
While some say the day should be celebrated specially, others advice that showing of love should be a daily affair.
According to history, St. Valentine’s Day began as a celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus.
But many say the celebration has been marked with events different from the real message of the day.
