Luis Suarez beats Ronaldo, Balotelli’s ‘Biggest Mistake’ and more on #Urban96 Sports today!
Ivorian marksman Guy Kuemian Venance has voiced his sentiments over claiming an unlikely Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title with Rivers United this season.
United currently occupy the summit of the NPFL standings with three matches remaining.
Kuemian, who admits that getting their noses over the line will be far from straightforward, is banking on grit and determination to achieve the team’s objectives.
Kuemian is now just 270 minutes away from league glory with an unheralded NPFL side just eight months after he signed the dotted lines for the club.
Musa Newman scored two second half goals as MFM FC defeated Lobi Stars 3-1 on Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
MFM FC winger, Sikiru Olatunbosun, had set the tone for their first win in eight league matches while Nanen Imenger’s goal turned out to be mere consolation for Lobi Stars.
Away from the NPFL to action from Nigerians playing abroad.
Nigeria international, Moses Simon, has continued with his fine form this season, scoring in KAA Gent’s 3-0 win over Sporting Lokeren on Sunday in the Belgian league.
Simon started the game alongside another Nigerian – midfield powerhouse Anderson Esiti – as the former champions ran out winners in an easy game.
Simon was having a brilliant game and he capped it with the third goal in the 70th minute for the Buffaloes to earn his side a comprehensive 3-0 win.
It was his second in as many games this season and he will hope to continue in that form considering he got only three goals last season for Gent.
Brown Ideye produced a superb performance in the Greek Super League by scoring a hat-trick as Olympiakos cruised past Veria 6-1 at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium on Sunday.
The 27-year-old opened the scoring for The Legend 25 minutes into the match when he rifled home from the centre of the box into the bottom-right corner past Veria’s Spanish goalkeeper, Jona, from an Tarik Elyounoussi assist.
Ideye’s return in the Greek top-flight gives him a 100 percent shot accuracy in front of goal this season so far.

Diego Costa scored twice, including an 81st-minute equaliser, as Antonio Conte maintained his unbeaten start to life as Chelsea manager in a 2-2 draw at Swansea City on Sunday.
Costa levelled with a deflected but spectacular overhead bicycle kick after Branislav Ivanovic’s shot had been sent spinning in his direction.
The goal, Costa’s fourth in as many games, spared Conte from his first loss in English football after two controversial Swansea goals in three second-half minutes had cancelled out Costa’s opener.
After Chelsea’s second goal, only a brilliant Fabianski save denied Costa a hat-trick and the visitors all three points.
Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is hoping to strike fear into opposition defenders after producing a blistering start to his Anfield career.
Mane, who joined the Reds in a club-record £36m transfer earlier this summer, has already scored twice for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, including a well-executed finish in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Premier league champions Leicester.
The former Southampton forward has already drawn comparisons to Liverpool legend John Barnes and Mane says he is now aiming to write his own name into the history books at Anfield.
Mario Balotelli claims his ill-fated move to Liverpool was “the worst mistake of my life”, after he scored twice on his Nice debut on Sunday.
The 26-year-old moved to Anfield for £16m in the summer of 2014, but scored just four goals in 28 appearances for the club.
It quickly became apparent he did not fit in with Brendan Rodgers’s style of play and soon fell out of favour, before being loaned out to AC Milan last season.
He returned to Merseyside this summer but was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States by new boss Jurgen Klopp.
He was also sidelined for other friendlies and completed a free transfer to French club Nice on transfer Deadline Day.
Balotelli scored twice on his debut on Sunday, as Nice beat Marseille 3-2.
Luis Suarez has a new record. He now has a higher combined total of goals and assists in his first 100 appearances for Barcelona than Cristiano Ronaldo managed in his first 100 games for Real Madrid.
The Uruguay international came off the bench to make his 100th appearance for the Catalan giants against Alaves on Saturday, and while he was unable to prevent their shock 2-1 defeat at the Nou Camp, he reached the milestone with an unrivalled record.
Since his £75m transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona in the summer of 2014, Suarez has netted 88 goals and claimed 43 assists for the Catalan giants in all competitions.

Stan Wawrinka won the US Open final against an uncharacteristically tiring Novak Djokovic on Sunday night.
The No 3 seed won the third Grand Slam of his career with a 6-7 6-4 7-5 6-3 win at Flushing Meadows.
The result compounds a miserable summer for the world No 1, Djokovic, who surprisingly lost to Sam Querrey at Wimbledon, and was reduced to tears by Juan Martin Del Potro at the Olympics.
