Lizzo Named TIME’s Entertainer Of The Year
2019 saw Lizzo lit up the charts in a way few could have forecast. And TIME Magazine have honored her accordingly.
On a grind for almost a decade, the Houston native saw her career boom – uniquely with bops from years prior. Case in point chart-topper ‘Truth Hurts’ (2017) and ‘Good As Hell’ (2016).
Her unorthodox story has seen her take the industry by storm and nab a whopping 8 nominations at the upcoming GRAMMYs.
Prior to the big night, TIME have bestowed on her of of their most coveted salutes.
Moments ago, it was revealed that Liz’ has been named Entertainer of the Year 2019.
A portion of her profile feature reads:
Lizzo does represent something new. Her sound is relentlessly positive and impossibly catchy: bangers that synthesize pop, rap and R&B, with hooks so sharp it feels like they’ve been in your brain forever. Her lyrics are funny, bawdy and vulnerable: reminders to dump whatever idiot is holding you back and become your own biggest fan.
Attending a Lizzo concert feels like worshipping at the church of self-love, if your preacher was a pop star living joyfully in a big black body, delivering a sermon of self-acceptance that’s as frank as it is accessible.
More power to her!
