President Obama Turns Comedian During Final WHCD
President Obama killed in his final turn as comic-in-chief Saturday night during the final white house correspondent dinner, lobbing grenades at Mayor de Blasio, the Washington press corps and especially the GOP presidential wannabes.
Ted Cruz “had a tough week,” Obama said in his crowning monologue at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington.
Donald Trump was a notable absence at the annual black-tie gala drawing celebrities, politicians and journalists.
But that Couldn’t save him from Obama’s Punches.
“The Republican establishment is incredulous that he’s their most likely nominee,” Obama said. “They say Donald lacks the foreign policy experience to be President. But in fairness, he has spent years meeting with leaders from around the world: Miss Sweden, Miss Argentina, Miss Azerbaijan.”
Nicknamed nerd prom, the soiree at the Washington Hilton Hotel is one of the hottest tickets in the nation’s capital.
The event, in typical fashion, attracted a curious array of bold-faced names: “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Nene Leakes and Democratic presidential wannabe Bernie Sanders, singer Aretha Franklin and New York Giant wideout Odell Beckham Jr., former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.
