Moving on on to this controversial one.
We got news moments ago that the United States will not take part in the women’s 4 by 100metres relay final after a disastrous error in the heats. There was what seemed to be A mix-up between Allyson Felix and English Gardner which initially ended the hopes of the reigning champions. The ladies dropped the baton, a development which knocked them out of the final run.
However, there has been a surprising turn around. Allyson Felix told officials that she was bumped by a Brazilian runner right before she got to the zone, and replays have confirmed this.
So what this means is that the Brazilian team have been disqualified and the U.S given a second chance.
But the Americans are not simply walking into the finals.
They will have to run alone in time trial and if they best a time of 42.70 seconds, there will be a second time trial But this time between China and Canada who qualified for the final with matching 42.70seconds.
Meanwhile, good news for Nigeria.
Team Nigeria’s relay team made it to the womens 4 by 100 finals after posing a 42.55 seconds finish.
