Still the World’s Fastest Man! Usain Bolt Wins Third Olympic 100m Gold In Rio
The Jamaican’s bid for a “triple-triple” of Olympic gold medal winning performances gets off to a flying start in Brazil
Usain Bolt has won the men’s 100m final in Rio – becoming the first athlete to win three Olympic golds in the event.
The win in a time of 9.81 seconds took the sprinter a step closer to his goal of winning the “triple-triple” of gold in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay in a third consecutive Olympics.
American Justin Gatlin took silver in 9.89 seconds, while Canada’s Andre de Grasse won bronze in 9.91 seconds.
Bolt appeared to be in trouble after a slow start, but he cruised past Gatlin in the last 30m and found time to thump his chest as he crossed the line.
