G-Eazy is preparing to release his upcoming album, The Beautiful and Damned, but not without building anticipation first. To hold fans over until his album’s planned fall release, the Oakland rapper unleashed four new tracks late Wednesday night (Aug. 2) and teased that TB&D would arrive “soon.”
On the reflective “Wave”, G-Eazy raps about “the gift and curse of a celebrity.” Though his life is difficult, his work is nowhere close to being completed. “I’m on my way up if you don’t know it/ But there’s no direction to get where I’m going/ My life is hard to relate to so I don’t talk to no one,” he rhymes over the airy production.
In contrast to “Wave,” G-Eazy connects with New York MC Jadakiss for “Get A Bag.” The anthemic track finds Eazy boasting about his “rock star lifestyle” and the trappings of success. Jadakiss chimes in with his signature laugh to offer up his own advice for securing the bag.
“You don’t come home with the bag, don’t stop working/ Yeah, instead of just getting blunted/ Use that energy to go get it as bad as you want it/ Hand start itching, you know that it’s coming/ Then you fill a bag up with the twenties, fifties, and hundreds.” Other newly released tracks include “Nothing Wrong” and “Just Friends” featuring Phem.
Last June, G-Eazy spoke with Billboard about his upcoming project, revealing that the album will explore “the next chapter of Gerald” and the “yin and yang of my personality.” No telling if these four new releases will be on TB&D track list.
