The ‘Angry Birds Movie’ Tops Weekly Box Office
“The Angry Birds Movie”, based on the popular mobile game, flew to the top of the U.S. box office after earning $39 million in its first weekend in the domestic market.
The film also lined its nest with $112 million generated in foreign markets, grossing a total of $151 million dollars worldwide at the time of writing, according to figures posted on website Box Office Mojo.
The new film, which was produced by Sony Pictures and the animation department of the video game’s Finnish developer Rovio, has doubled its reported production budget of $73 million.
Captain America : Civil war came second in the box office with $33M . “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” takes the third spot on the chart with $21.8M.
