Real names Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, is reported to have committed suicide at his home after suffering from severe depression.
The award-winning rapper hanged himself with a rope at his home in Johannesburg in the morning.
On social media, Jones revealed that he had tried contacting Rick but never got a response.
“Sad Day For African Hip Hop, RIP Champ, tried to reach out to you in 2018 but God Had other plans, Rest Easy 🙏🏾🙏🏾 ,” said Jones on Instagram.
In his message, Jones said he was a big fan of Rick and had asked for a collabo.
“What’s good blood,” read Jones’s message on Instagram.
“Been trying to get at you for a while now. I’m a big fan of your work aside from being a rapper as well. I wanna put some work with you as well.”
Several Kenyan artists, alongside other African entertainers, have also shared their condolences on social media following the death of the talented act.
Riky Rick was the founder and owner of the record label Cotton Club Records. He was well-known for his fashion sense and setting trends.
In 2020, he opened up about his struggle with depression after his father died.
Until his passing away, he was the founder and owner of the record label Cotton Club Records.
He has left behind a wife and two kids.
